I live in Chicago. I live in a three flat condo building with very limited outdoor space. I don’t have a backyard I can plant produce in and my deck doesn’t get enough sunlight to really utilize for growing food.
I want a garden. I want to grow a small amount of produce for cooking. I want to be able to pull herbs from the plant and put it right in the dish. These are just a few of the simple things I want with a garden. But, I have limited space, limited sunlight, and am limited with options.
Indoor gardening might be the way I have to go but I don’t know the first thing about how to start. I’ve done some research online and only became more confused about different ways to garden indoors. There’s hydroponics, grow lights, aquaponics, and aeroponics. This is just the tip of information. Once you start looking at each type of gardening techniques you start getting deeper into all the tools, pots, and containers you’ll need in order to get started which becomes even more overwhelming. I’ve been trying to figure out how to at least grow herbs in my kitchen and can’t decide how to best do it because of the no sunlight thing and can’t even figure out how to do that.
So far now I’m going to keep researching to become more confused and just dream of maybe someday having a yard of my own where I can plant what I want and harvest plants to use in my recipes.
